DON'T STARE AT ME
Most people describe Dream's appearance as "unique". Sometimes this is said as a compliment, because the girl is uniquely pretty with her wild and luxurious black hair that curls around her face, and her skin the color of dark caramel that looks like gold in the sun. Her long dark eyes-lashes that accent her eyes as much as they hide them, and her full lips that always seem to have a pout to them. Dream's body may be a little too thin nowadays, but since the girl stands at 5'8 and walks like a lioness on the prowl, not many people can find something to complain about.
Other times, though, it is said as an uncomfortable pseudo-compliment - you know, like how people say a girl with some meat on her bones has a "pretty face". They may be intimidated by Dream's fiery brown eyes, or her cold and belittling stare that she uses on people that get on her nerves. Or maybe they think her odd sense of style - her thrift store, over-sized, oddly-colored clothes - is strange and too eccentric for them.
I WON'T SHUT UP, I KNOW THAT I SHOULD
Dream is known for being silent and thoughtful. She rarely speaks, and when she does it's either to say something most would find cold and insensitive, or to make an observation that is actually quite intelligent. She is by no means a brainiac - that would be her sister's job - but she is clever and has a good head on her shoulders in most instances.
Her problem with school stems from the fact that she has little to no motivation to be successful. She doesn't care if she fails, or disappoints people, or makes her parents and sister look bad. It's her life, so she shouldn't have to play by someone else's rules. Her pessimistic attitude and lack of respect for authority also makes it hard for her to ever succeed in school. If she's taking a test she doesn't understand she'll simply walk out of the classroom and not come back.
Even if she acts like she doesn't care, Dream is very sensitive when it comes to certain things. She hates being called a failure, and hates it even more when her parents talk about what a disappointment she is compared to her wonderful sister. Dream is secretly a very jealous person, and she resents her sister for making her look like even more of a failure than if Cerise just wasn't around.
In her heart, though, Dream cares very much for her family, and especially her little sister. She'd take on an army to protect Cerise, even if it meant she'd die trying. Hr compassion also goes out to children and animals, who have never given her any trouble and who she feels a great maternal affection for.

LIVING IN THE PAST
History:
Dream was the first born daughter of two very influential people in the medical profession. Everyone - especially her parents - thought she was going to become an amazing genius with a heart of gold and a ton of aspirations. This turned out to not be the case, at least in most respects. Dream cared little for school or hard work. She preferred listening to music or making something from nothing, like drawing. She rarely listened to teachers, and questioned authority constantly.
Her parents, probably disappointed with how Dream turned out, started to ignore her and focus all their energy on Dream's sister Cerise. Ceri was an egghead from birth, so the Meyricks were glad to push academic challenges on her. They entirely gave up on Dream, who was slightly happy not to be under her parents' thumb anymore, but unhappy at being the un-favorite.
Dream started experimenting with drugs when she was in middle school. She started on the light stuff like pot at first, but moved on to harder drugs and drinking as she grew older and things seemed bleaker. Her sister discovered her problem when Dream was fourteen and Ceri was thirteen, but Dream's little sister couldn't convince the girl to quit drug use. Dream's grades grew worse, and her outlook along with it.
It wasn't until Dream's junior year at high school that the shit really hit the fan. She had bought some pot from her dealer the day before, and she had put it in her book-bag and forgotten about it the net morning. When she made it to school, it was announced that a drug test was going to be conducted. Dream wasn't worried at first, because she had thought she'd left all her stuff at home. But when the drug dogs came into her class, they made a beeline for her book-bag and Dream was caught.
Dream's parents were given two choices: either Dream would go to juvie hall, or maybe even jail, or the girl would have to attend a local reform school for an undisclosed amount of time. Her parents decided on option B, and Dream was to be shipped off to Red Sky Academy. This pissed her off to no end, but part of it was kind of funny - her sister, Ceri, was registered at the school too. Dream knew it was wrong to laugh, but it was too too funny that her perfect little sis was to be taught at a place for "future criminals". Even so, Dream's joy was fleeting, and it disappeared completely when she finally arrived at the infamous academy. Maybe prison wouldn't have been so bad, after all...

"It looks like a prison," Cerise commented when they pulled up in front of the reform school. Her parents shared a somewhat annoyed look, but didn't reply to their youngest daughter's observations. Ceri turned her attention to her sister, who sat beside her in the backseat. "Don't you think it looks like a prison or asylum or something?"
"..." was all her sister said. The other girl didn't even glance toward her younger sister. She was just as upset at being sent to the reform school as Ceri was, if not more so. At least Cerise didn't have to make up for any "crimes".
"I bet they have armed guards and drug dogs at every corner," Ceri continued. Her sister winced, and Ceri realized she'd said the wrong thing. She didn't apologize for her foot-in-mouth moment, though. It was Dream's own fault for getting caught with drugs. It was the girl's fault for taking them in the first place. Ceri wasn't going to linger on mistakes that had nothing to do with her.
Their parents quickly pulled up to the school. They were obviously tired of Cerise's criticisms of the new school, so they wanted to dump off their daughters as quickly as possible and then drive off to their equally yuppie jobs. As the car pulled to a halt, Cerise and Dream's mother turned around to her girl's with a kind smile."You'll both do fine, don't worry." She said this to both of them, but she was looking at Ceri when she spoke. Dream sunk down in her seat morosely, ignoring her entire family.
Ceri reached over to put a hand on her sister's, but she stopped herself. She had no idea how to comfort Dream. She had known, once. When they were little girls they had always been each other's friends and bulwarks, but now they were so far apart in who they were and what they felt that Cerise wouldn't know where to begin.
Both girls hopped out of the car and started walking for the school. Ceri had to walk quickly to keep up with her sister's long strides, but she managed to catch up eventually. "Hey! Do you want to see if we have any classes together? Maybe I can help you with -"
Dream whirled around so quick that Ceri was shocked. She was shocked even more by the girl's fierce expression. "You don't help with shit, all right? You just go about your business and I'll go about mine, and hopefully we won't even have to speak to each other. And you won't hurt your goddamn perfect record."
Ceri blinked in surprise and pain. She hadn't expected her sister to be so hostile to her offer to help. Of course, Cerise knew her sister had a lot of pride, but the girl was also far more intelligent than her grades showed, so shouldn't she jump at the chance to improve her grade point average just a little? "Sorry. I was only trying to help you. I didn't mean to -"
"If you want to help me, stop being so fucking perfect all the time. Not everybody can be like you, Cerise." Dream shook her head and walked even faster. Ceri was so confused and hurt that she stopped following her sister and simply stared after her. She had nothing to say to that, really. Nothing that would make anything better, anyway.
"I'm not perfect...," she finally mumbled, but her sister had already been gone for a long time. Longer than Cerise knew, perhaps. The girl looked around her and blinked back the tears that had started welling behind her eyes, and then she headed toward Red Sky Academy with her chin held high.
