DON'T STARE AT ME
Pale skinned and dark haired, with sharp blue eyes and an icy stare, Colette is an intimidating figure. Even if the girl only stands in at about 5'6, and is what most would call "petite" in figure, she radiates a general frigidness and fierceness that makes certain people pause and others run for cover. Rarely does she smile, unless a smirk counts as a smile. The most common expression Colette wears is one of boredom, and second only to that is disdain.
Her hair is dark brown, almost black, like the color of coffee grounds. Her eyes are large and startlingly blue, almost icy in appearance, and rimmed wit fine dark lashes. Colette's skin is mostly unblemished, although she does have a small pinkish birthmark on her ankle that is rather similar looking to a bird taking flight. She has pierced ears and at one time had a pierced belly button, which her parents forced her to remove. She has yet to get any tattoos, even though she really really wants one.
Colette's clothes are inexpensive with the facade of being designer outfits. She's just very good at putting an outfit together, and even thrift shop wear can be made to look fashionable with the right tweaks. Col is far from what you'd call girly, but she does dress with a certain femininity, and even tries to heighten her sex-appeal factor. This doesn't mean she dresses like a slut, however. She finds girls who show everything to be distasteful, so she always tries to have a bit of mystery about her.
I WON'T SHUT UP, I KNOW THAT I SHOULD
Col is, at least outwardly, a tough chick with a bad attitude. She has no problem calling people out or snapping at others, even teachers or other members of authority. Actually, if the person is an authority figure, they're even more likely to face her sharp tongue. She's sarcastic to the point of being caustic, and nobody, not even those she sort of cares about, are exempt from this. Sometimes she's snide without even realizing it, and when this happens she often feels bad about causing someone unprovoked pain after the fact. Even so, apologizing is out of the question for Colette, as she would see it as a blow to her pride.
She's known for being a party girl with a penchant for taking risks. No dare is too dangerous for her, no challenge too difficult. If it means being the best at whatever she's doing, Col will go through hell and high water to preserve her number one spot. She's so intent on keeping up her tough appearance that she's greatly hurt if this appearance is damaged. While Colette might put on the facade of someone with overwhelming confidence, on the inside she's a rather insecure person, at least when it comes to her failures. A high amount of criticism can either send her into an inky black mood that's very hard for her to get out of, or a fiery red mood that makes her reckless and angry.
Despite her outwardly mean and bitter attitude, and her habit of losing her temper and doing crazy things, Colette has a soft underbelly just like anybody else. She grows attached to certain types of people, to children, and especially to animals. If anyone harms those she cares about, Col goes into a rage that rivals that of a protective mama bear. Nobody with five brain cells would mess with Col's friends, or else they get one hell of a beating - whether that be physical or psychological. Her softness is also brought out when around animals or kids. While she may still put on her apathetic facade while others are watching, if left alone with a little munchkin or critter, she'll usually spoil the hell out of them.

LIVING IN THE PAST
History:
Colette bad influence from the moment she was out in the world. Her parents might have been the paradigm of what most white collar workers wanted to be, but neither were good examples of how good people should behave. Both parents were greedy, ambitious, cold business people, and Col soaked up many of these qualities no matter how much she resented them. Whatever she didn't soak up from them, she soaked up possibly worse qualities from the nannies her parents placed in the household. Colette grew to be a cynical young girl and then a bitter teenager because of this.
Even in her younger days she was known to talk back and start trouble. This was often not on purpose, it was only that Colette found certain rules and guidelines set down by authorities to be too strict or even ridiculous. She hated excuses like "Because I told you so", and hypocrisy made her horribly angry. Her hatred of authority only grew as she got older, and the number of teachers and other authority figures she met turned out to be all the same.
In her first year of high school, she was written up three times within the first two months, and she served more detentions than she could count because of her bad mouth and reckless behavior. However, it was only near the end of the year that she got into serious trouble. Colette had started drinking when she was twelve years old, and it had become a habit for her to get drunk with a group of her sort-of-friends. Many times she would stumble home, late in the night, to a nearly empty house where the only punishment she got was a cold stare from one of the maids.
Things might have continued on this way if it wasn't for one certain party that got Colette into a world of trouble. It was like any other party - stupid, bored teenagers with nothing better to do than get drunk and have sex in a parent-less house. So that was exactly what Col was doing, and she was enjoying herself as always. However, she did something she had never done before that night: she took a strange street drug that was apparently all the rage. The drug made her trip out like crazy, and her hallucinations scared the crap out of her. She hallucinated that her hair had turned into venomous snakes, and she tried to yank out her brown locks before they could eat her alive.
Before the drug had lost its effect, the teen's parents' who owned the house the other high schoolers were using as their party head quarters came home early and walked in on the near-orgy the house had become. Obviously, the parents were understandably upset. They ordered the teens out of their house immediately, but no matter how hard they tried they couldn't get Col out from her current place (i.e. curled in the corner of the bathroom on the cold linoleum floor). The two adults called Colette's parents and then drove the girl to the hospital. After another forty minutes the drug's effects finally wore off, and Col was basically back to normal.
Unfortunately for Col, her parents were not forgiving of the embarrassing incident. They put Colette under a basic house arrest, and the girl fumed alone in her room. Col's school, a fancy private one that had high standards, was already looking for an excuse to get rid of the brutally honest girl, so they used her recent ordeal as an excuse to cancel her tuition. Col's parents grew even angrier. Nonetheless, after a few weeks the Pierces discovered a pamphlet for a reform school in their own city, and they took it upon themselves to find out more about it. Red Sky Academy, it was called. The parents enrolled Colette into the academy for the new school year, and the girl had no choice but to grin and bear it. Well, more like bitch and bear it, but you get the idea...

Why did the streets of Venice always excite her? She had been living there for almost ten years, and yet still the atmosphere of the city ran through her blood and trilled in her heart like a violin. Her blue eyes were bright and as alive as the city streets. The skirt of her cream dress flapped incessantly in the wind as she walked toward her destination: Harry's Dolci. Ah, man. She needed her coffee. Needed it like a junkie needed their fix. And she would walk five thousand miles to get it. Gloria had awoken that morning feeling exhausted and a little bit depressed. She hadn't acted in a production in almost two months, and the lack of any thespian elements in her life was really starting to wear down on her.
So coffee would be her salvation. Coffee would pep her up and make her feel happy again. Well, until the caffeine high inevitably wore off and she was back to square one, but she pushed that thought out of her mind and entered the shop with a light smile on her face. Her hair curled smartly around her face, the larger body of the stuff held up by a fake pearl hair piece that matched the fake pearls on her neck. Most of her jewelry was false. She might be a rising actress, but that didn't make her rich. She was lucky to be able to feed herself every month, much less splurge on fanciful nonsense things.
She went up to the counter and ordered an Emerald Espresso. Gloria had always liked the name of the drink. It sounded elegant and romantic, like Esmeralda. And of course the taste had won her over after only a few sips, so she constantly ordered the coffee whenever she had some extra cash on hand. The woman behind the counter handed her her coffee with a warm smile, and Gloria gave a smile of her own, though one that was less noticeable. The blonde actress stepped away from the counter and began searching for a place to sit with furrowed brows. Most of the good seats had been taken, including Gloria's usual spot.
She walked further into the cafe and glanced around with a worried expression. Well, this puts a damper on things, she thought with a sigh, not even noticing that there was a free seat at a table that already had someone sitting at it.
